summer moments 08 October 10, 2008
Posted by Administrator in : nomadika, kraziness, málaka , add a commentI may not be the blogger I once was, but I thought I’d drop a note with those all star summer moments, I kind of already went off in the spanish version, so I’ll leave the witicisms out and just leave the hardcoreinfo here. June brought soheil’s aunt and uncle to madrid - they were due a euro trip and escapade from southern california where they live with, Kian, my favourite cousin. Aswell as bringing us our favourite Trader Joe’s stuff - and I won’t go into why I love TJs so, suffice it so say I wouldn’t ask anyone for Mercadona goods should I leave España. They also brought us a cool little camera that takes pictures like this:

and so summer documenting has been possible.
My lovely mother turned 60, we celebrated with champagne, gourmet menu by Chef David, cocktails at the Ritz, jazz on the roof of Bellas Artes and a morning at a Spa….I’m waiting for the pix.
Next major event was the arrival of Ruphay, Karin + family whom we met in Costa Rica during our Central American travels. They now live in Switzerland and they have a daughter called Laura as well as Aruni, both of them very beautiful.
From there we travelled to Poland via Berlin accompanying a travelling festival that deserves its own post really since it is such a spectacular event. It’s mission is very cool, the man at the helm more than inspirational and the people who work with him a bunch of blissful souls. My batteries were charged by their enthusiasm, their way of doing things and positive energy.

back to spain and straight to Taera Jazz Trío’s unplugged, candlelit gig at Miraflores.

We also has a visit from Concha Concha so Tae and I hung out with her one sunny afternoon in Fuengirola, all sorts of things happened: we had some tastey tropical juices, some kid ran off with Concha’s wallet, she shed a few tears (due to other stuff) and I left early because Janmastami was coming up and I had the task of creating a papier maché carriage for the Bhagavad Gita play. The festival actually took place on August 24th and was very successful.
Soon after that we went to the Dhoad gig at Festival 3 Culturas held in the Axarquía’s prettiest white village, Frigiliana. Dhoad are a band of Rajistani gypsies who combine their musical talents with an acrobatic dancer a fire swallowing fakir and a super energetic guy who plays Indian castanets.

All in all it was a cool weekend with Gopi and Ernesto…I wonder if they’ll come back for another dosage?
The heat has subsided and my workload has increased, so I’ll be chained to the titanium for a while. I hope to get a few escapades to the beach in or my lower body will turn into a chair!
