I´ve been YouTubing 24/7 this last month in the privacy of my computer womb, however having spent the last few weeks in the US I have witnessed how much the site has become a part of people´s social life in these parts. The fact that you have 100% control over what you watch explains the success of YouTube…I´ve been with 3 totally separate groups of people, hanging out on a weekday night, as well as on a mellow Sunday evening and even at a Saturday night party with a projector hooked up to the web where every now and again I´d get called in to watch something hilarious…. everyone there shared their fav YouTube vid, and we all loved it.

So now it´s my turn: this playlist features a few Top Spanish Videos, some funny stuff (we all love to laugh), amazing animation, racey skateboarding tricks, an eco-friendly clip, and a hint of satire for good measure.

    Enjoy!

This playlist is all about summer festivals, a major ingredient in most Spanish youngsters´ holiday season. Its an eclectic mix of clips revolving around both mega-popular and less well-known festivals that are either about to take place or have just gone by:

    Summercase 13 + 14 July - Madrid + Barcelona

it´s either a cyclical thing or just pure magnetism, but i´m back in california enjoying spectacular views of the Pacific, soheil´s mum´s hospitality and the company of old friends with new ideas. the latter is what charges my batteries the post, a good dose of socialisation along with an intro to progressive ideas that probably won´t make it to southern europe for another few years. as much as europeans love to hate the USA there are bubbles of quality that surpass many other places. so on the eco front, everyone has their compost going on, recycling grey water, biodiesel fuelled cars and i was turned on to an excellent book called Homework by Lloyd Kahn who spent a few years photographing structures made with alternative materials or techniques. many of these were inspired by his previous book Shelter. what with the high cost of housing in spain perhaps the problem could be solved by following the advice given in this book.
interior casa de adobe (es decir paja y barro) en México
interior of an adobe house (thats straw and mud) in Ciudad Obregón, México

interior de invernadero hecho con parabrisas reciclados
interior of a greenhouse made out of recycled windscreens
