We live in times where thanks to IKEA, Starbucks and Zara we can sit on the same sofas, drink the same café lattes and wear the same skirt in New York, Tokyo or Madrid. That’s why Las Niñas handmade clothing is so fresh. Sisters Arancha and Nieves Moscoso have been showing their simple, colourful and naïve pieces from their Lavapies shop for 5 years now. They mix cotton with synthetics, make handbags, t-shirts and have even started painting roof slates!
It’s not unusual to find Arancha at her antique sewing machine, creating a totally unique dress that doesn’t draw more much attention to itself than it should. We all deserve to wear something like that.

    Plaza Castilla Deposit

You’ve seen it every time you pass Plaza Castilla, how could you miss a 37 metre concrete structure? But I bet you didn’t know its still used for emergency purposes. Not only that, but its part of the Canal II Foundation’s headquarters. The whole area has been done up, they’ve maintained its original 60s character whilst adding all sorts of multimedia equipment in all 4 spaces. You can still see the original tubes and canals inside the base of the deposit. A 250 person auditorium with a great city view has also been added. Since 2002 when it opened, there have been all sorts of concerts, exhibitions and art installations here. I just wish we could convince them to let us have the space for a party.

Time for v 3.0: after hours of hacking css and a quick scribble in photoshop I have pulled together the beginning of a new laloka site. My neck is stiff and my eyes are tired, but I have even managed to wrap this theme (called Regulus, designed by binary moon) around klik, my photo gallery…this I managed thanks to david cubed, thank god for people who share their knowledge. Nonetheless I still have to modify the navigation to include the gallery as well as apply all of this to the spanish version and add a couple of new sections. I am still searching for a plugin that will display random images in the sidebar after installing a couple that are of no use or refuse to work. All this fuss and I´m not even feeling like I have much to say anymore…bla bla blog. I´ll keep it up nonetheless as its useful at times, my mouth will get big again I´m sure.
Anyways, let meknow what you think of 3.0 Akismet is in town so comments are open again (spammers: be very afraid.)
